Chamber Honors Phil Hardberger with Distinguished Leader Award

The Greater Chamber was honored to present former Mayor Phil Hardberger with its Distinguished Leader award during the first quarterly CEO Luncheon on Mar. 9.

Hardberger first began his political career as Treasurer of the student body at Baylor University. After Baylor, he piloted B-47 bombers in the Air Force and then journeyed to the nation's Capital, where he worked with Sargent Shriver on the Peace Corps.

Hardberger returned to Texas and began his distinguished career as a lawyer and a judge, and he has been repeatedly recognized as one of the top attorneys and jurists nationwide. Additionally, he served as Chief Justice of the Fourth Court of Appeals, where he received numerous awards for his judicial acumen and commitment to justice.

Frank Burney, Managing Partner at Martin & Drought, P.C., introduced Hardberger and provided attendees an A to Z list of his accomplishments as Mayor.

“We are excited to present this to you today,” Burney said. “While many might decide to rest on their laurels after such a distinguished career, Phil took on his toughest challenge yet - running for Mayor of our city. His four years of leading our community were marked by a restoration of public confidence in our elected officials and renewed faith in the future of our city,” he added.

Texas Gives Back $3,600 at Grand Opening

San Antonio, Tx, March 4, 2011: It was an amazing evening for the founders of Texas Gives Back at the grand opening event held at the Seaworld Courtyard Marriot. The event was hosted by celebrity Sonny Melendrez and featured three non-profits, Boysville, Daily Bread Ministries, and Soldiers-Angels. Texas Gives Back has emerged from within a bad national economy with a generous business model to give businesses advertising and marketing in exchange for super deals that a portion of every online sale will go to a designated charity.

Our recommendation is for San Antonio residents and business community to keep watching and participate with Texas Gives Back. It is projected to have a great impact on the San Antonio community.
